Daywise Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Paro, Scenic Drive to Thimphu

Your Bhutanese adventure begins as you land at Paro International Airport, surrounded by emerald hills and crystal-clear mountain air. After a warm welcome from your Ling Travel Bhutan guide, enjoy a scenic drive along rivers and pine-covered slopes to Thimphu, the capital city. Depending on your arrival time, explore the National Memorial Chorten or simply wander through the peaceful streets before dinner.

Day 2 - Thimphu Sightseeing

Begin with the National Memorial Chorten, a hub of daily devotion for locals, followed by the hilltop Buddha Dordenma Statue, gazing over the valley. Explore Tashichho Dzong, home to Bhutan’s royal and administrative offices. In the afternoon, visit either the Textile Museum or Folk Heritage Museum, browse the Handicrafts Market, and end with a visit to Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the city’s oldest temples.

Day 3 - Thimphu to Gangtey

A spectacular drive over Dochula Pass (3,100m) reveals 108 white chortens against a Himalayan backdrop. Continue through forested mountains to Phobjikha Valley, known for its flat glacial basin and the graceful Black-Necked Cranes (seasonal). Visit Gangtey Goenpa Monastery and walk the Gangtey Nature Trail for stunning views.

Day 4 - Gangtey to Punakha

Descend through lush valleys to Punakha, stopping at the Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple) en route. Visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, “Palace of Great Happiness,” at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, and walk across the nearby suspension bridge for panoramic views.

Day 5 - Punakha Immersion

Hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, offering sweeping views of rice fields and river valleys. Visit Ritsha Village to experience Bhutanese rural life. Return to Punakha Dzong for a deeper exploration, then stop by the Nalanda Buddhist Institute to meet monks in study. Optional white-water rafting on the Mo Chhu River adds adventure.

Day 7 - Punakha to Paro

Drive back to Paro, stopping at Simtokha Dzong, Bhutan’s oldest fortress. In the afternoon, visit Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum at Ta Dzong, housing exquisite art and historical treasures. Stroll Paro’s charming streets before dinner.

Day 8 - The Legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Embark on a pilgrimage hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), clinging to a cliff 900 meters above the valley floor. Afterward, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples. Spend the afternoon exploring Paro town or revisiting favorite sites before a farewell dinner.

Day 9 - Departure from Bhutan

Enjoy your final breakfast in Bhutan before transferring to Paro Airport for your onward flight to Kathmandu. Carry with you memories of mountain sunrises, sacred monasteries, and warm Bhutanese smiles.
